PROVEN SUCCESS

I joined the PSD community in 2001 when my oldest began Kindergarten. She graduated in 2014 in the top 10% of her class and is now in the top 15% of her class at the Air Force Academy, one of the most challenging academic institutions in the world. My youngest, now a sophomore, continues to follow in her sister's footsteps. While my wife, of 25 years, and I take great pride in raising two successful children, there is no doubt that PSD also played a significant role. I want to ensure that PSD continues to provide one of the greatest educations available.

CHANGING WORLD

The world is changing faster and faster every day. Corporate America runs on the quarterly report and considers 3-years a long-term plan. Those with the speed and agility to adapt fastest win. Everyone else gets left behind. Unfortunately, like many government institutions, PSD has strong resistance to change. The entire PSD system is setup around long-term planning, slow decision making, and micromanagement. The bureaucracy is tying the hands of our teachers and overloading them with excessive paperwork that distracts from their mission of serving the students. PSD must take its bureaucratic dinosaur off life support and integrate agile processes into its portfolio for continued success.

STRENGTHS

I am a long-time community enthusiast, who has been involved in a number of school, city, state, and local non-profit projects over the years. My education includes an engineering degree with focus areas in history and political science. As the founder of Urban Self-Sufficiency, a model for maximizing a home's water and energy production while minimizing their use, I will be an invaluable asset for the heat issue and new school planning. My work experience with downside risk management in critical environments will reduce the frequency and severity of negative events.
